NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Voltron is once again ready to fight forces of evil, but this time in full 3D CGI in the new animated series, Voltron: The Third Dimension -- the first time that an all 3D computer animated series has been produced in the United States. The 26 episode animated series is being co-produced by the multi-award winning production houses, Netter Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETT) and Mike Young Productions, Inc., it was announced by Kevin Harlan, Managing Director of World Events Productions, Ltd., a Koplar Communications Company, owners of the Voltron series.According to Harlan, the popular award-winning program, which is scheduled to premiere early this fall, has already been cleared in over 90% of the country. Netter Digital Entertainment, Inc., experts in computer graphics, are providing all of the 3D CGI for the new Voltron series at their state-of-the-art digital facility in North Hollywood, California. The company also creates the visual effects and co-produces the Emmy and Hugo award-winning series Babylon 5 and Crusade, a new television series to air on TNT in the fall. Harlan says, "Netter Digital's unique combination of multi-talented animators, state-of-the-art digital technology and creative experience in high quality cost effective visual effects made it the only logical choice for this new ground breaking 3D production." "We have adapted for Voltron the same production and animation approach we pioneered on Babylon 5 using desk top computers which allows us to invest in the artist rather than hardware," says Jason Netter, Director of Netter Digital Technologies, the special effects/post-production division of Netter Digital Entertainment. "We are utilizing a motion capture system with performers to create life-like and fluid movement to the characters. This combined with the 3D animation technology gives the Voltron TV series a type of character performance that really hasn't been seen in children's animation before." The Los Angeles based studio, which won numerous awards for its work both here and overseas, contains a fully digital 2D production facility. Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which debuted in September, 1984, was one of the highest rated and most successful animated series during that period. World Events Productions is also the producer of Denver The Last Dinosaur, Saber Rider and The Star Sheriffs, and Vytor, The Starfire Champion.
